Modern life can be challenging and leave you feeling jaded and inadequate.
But what if instead of being defective or damaged you are simply a human being covered in layers of adaptive coping?
We are expected to be human without really understanding what it means to be human.
It’s like we’ve been given a supercar to drive with no driving lessons or licence.
We are speeding around trying to navigate the road, the obstacles, the gear changes, feeling out of control at times and at the mercy of every bump and bend.
This book will help you start to put the pieces of your human puzzle together.
It’s a simple explanation of why you make sense, alongside tips to help you better balance your wellness dials and signposts to further information.
It will leave you feeling that you are driving the car and not that the car is driving you, moving you from survival mode to thriving mode.
In it, Kelley breaks down your primal survival settings and brain and body chemistry, how these may be being negatively manipulated in the modern world and what you can do to take charge and feel better.

She has always been curious about behaviour, people’s stories, the awesome design of the body and how we humans navigate our world. Her book Why Do I feel Like This? is a distillation of this knowledge and experience.
Kelley runs The Orchard Clinic – a busy multi-disciplinary health
practice in Berkshire where she also lives with her husband Dom, son Ben, daughter G, two cats, and a very human dog.
She hopes that this book gives you a sense of the therapeutic encounter of her treatment room and that it will sit on your nightstand as a comforting resource to help you and your own tribe feel better.
